Proof of Concept Funding opens up global possibilities in your pocket

Proof of Concept funding is helping give mobile phone users more choice in when, where and how they access information.

Using a £59,760 POC investment, Newcastle-based Funkigroup has developed software that makes websites more mobile-friendly.

This newly-launched service, called Funkify, will allow mobile users to access the web on the go by dynamically optimizing websites for viewing on their phone.

Funkify technology also allows website and blog owners to ‘mobilize’ their sites – making them accessible to mobile phones without the need for complicated coding.

Funkigroup Director Emma Robinson said: “This service is totally free and users can have a mobile version of their site up and running in around two minutes.

“Funkify builds on our previous achievements as a company. We provide a platform for independent creative talent to deliver mobile content to a worldwide audience. This means we can supply wallpapers, realtones, mobile and iPod video downloads that are not available through mainstream providers.

“We are also beginning to provide development services for other organizations. This is a great opportunity for us to be involved in some rapidly evolving areas of the industry.

“POC funding has allowed us to develop our ideas quickly and expand the business. We are now taking on extra staff, settling into new offices, and have new services planned to launch in the New Year.”
