New solutions for tracking employees and assets

TrackaPhone, based in Newcastle, has developed technology that allows organisations to locate employees and assets through mobile phone networks, 24 hours a day. As an Independent Location Service Provider, TrackaPhone aims to advance health and safety provision, and improve efficiency for its customers.

TrackaPhone offers internet-based desktop computer applications, which enable companies to track their employees' mobiles, or other mobile hardware such as PDA handheld computers and other company assets.

TrackaPhone have secured important contracts with the NHS, Local Governments, MoD, Train Operating Companies, 23 Police Forces, Utilities and 150 SME’s.   The service operates globally and the company is handling enquiries from the US, Europe and Australia and the company is planning to export their technology.

In December 2004 the company received £60,000 in from the Proof of Concept Fund to further develop the TrackaPhone system and to make it compatible with new Smart Phones, which combine mobile phone and PDA technology.  This has enabled the company to establish unique projects with RIM (BlackBerry), Hewlett Packard, Vodafone, Benefon, Secufone, o2, Motorola and BT Mobile.
